During week one I and my new mentor took
the first step to the Big Brother Project by meeting for the first time and in
agreement decided the structure of the project with one main idea which is to establish a psycho educational support
program to a group of first graders from school for a period of 2 years.
Meeting once a week with a group of students teaching them hands-on workshops
and later evaluating the development of their growth through
different Tests under the supervision of Educational psychologist Monica Riascos. Aside from the logistics of the project we also
discussed the ethical components of Big Brother and concluded that all of the
activities done in the would be hands-on program and supervised, all excersices
will be adjusted to students comfort. Students who suffer from education lag will be asked to participate in the Big Brother support program.
I am interested in your ethical comment above. It sounds like the students will be well looked after during the evaluation and education by both you and Monica. I am wondering what other ethical components you have been thinking about, either in how you choose the students or by providing them with testing and more education.
