Change

I am currently in the process of maybe changing my project again due to a new idea that has been developing over the past Easter break. The project bases still on Big Brother but only focuses on one kid from the La Paz community.  The project changes completely and now the student will spend only time with me. The mentor will still be Monica Riascos but she will provide guidance only to me about how to develope communication interaction. This project will be decided this Wednesday 24th of April, 2013.

Communication Wall

Throughout these two weeks several attempts to communicate with out helping organization CEPIA have been made but no response has been received. With my selected mentor we have decided that we will try to implement our program in the CEPIA installations but the idea is yet to be aproved by the organisation. If there is no communication between the organization and Big Brother we will have to change our organization

1 step forward but 1 step backwards

This Monday 18th Big Brother finally took another step in the making of this project. Cepia has agreed to help us find the students that we will be recruiting from lower schools. Although this is a big step there is one thing that is holding the project down. Big Brother needs a scholar bus to transport all the students from their location to La Paz Community School. This is an ethical implication towards the project because this bus has to be approved to drive students to prevent legality issues. The next step is to find locals to sponsor transportation to these children.

Challenges to be addressed

Increasing my areas of growth
During my Big Brother project new skills will be necessary in order for me to succeed positively during the course of this journey. One skill that needs to be addressed as soon as possible is my communication within all the people involved in the project including all the people that are still potential contributors towards the development of big brother. There are many calls through the phone that need to be made before a certain date. Some areas in which I also have to work on are my punctuality and I know this from past personal experience. Another area of growth is how the community sees me, my image. It is important for me to have a good image because I have to be known to have more accessible tools from different people within the communities nearby. School started for the public school and the next step after students adapt to school is to pick a set of students to integrate to the Big Brother Project by contacting the local nearby public schools.
Call Or Email Deadline:  Calls or emails will be sent before Sunday February 10th

Journal 1

During week one I and my new mentor took the first step to the Big Brother Project by meeting for the first time and in agreement decided the structure of the project with one main idea which is to establish a psycho educational support program to a group of first graders from school for a period of 2 years. Meeting once a week with a group of students teaching them hands-on workshops and later evaluating the development of their growth through different Tests under the supervision of Educational psychologist Monica Riascos. Aside from the logistics of the project we also discussed the ethical components of Big Brother and concluded that all of the activities done in the would be hands-on program and supervised, all excersices will be adjusted to students comfort. Students who suffer from education lag will be asked to participate in the Big Brother support program.
